Interview with author Krystalyn Drown

Krystalyn Drown stopped by the blog today, for an interview about herself and the upcoming release of her YA paranormal novel, Spirit World, scheduled

for publication April 15th, 2013.

Eden: Hi Krystalyn, tell us a little about yourself?

Krystalyn: I have spent the past thirteen years working at Walt Disney World in a variety of roles: entertainer, talent coordinater, and animal programs presenter. While maintaining my status there, I’ve worked at Sea World in zoology, as an elementary teacher, and currently as a support technician for a website. I live in Florida with my husband, son, cat, and dog.

Eden: How did you hear about Entranced Publishing?

Krystalyn: Through a blog: http://www.theyacurator.com/

Eden: Is Spirit World your first novel?  Tell us a little about it.

Krystalyn: Spirit World is my first published novel. It’s about seventeen-year-old Riesa Adair who can hear the voices of the dead. Because of her talent, she attracts the attention of an evil spirit who plans to use her powers to break into our world. Her family believes she is crazy and wants to “cure” her, but with the help of Garrett, a gorgeous guy with a similar talent, and Connor, her best friend, she finds the strength she needs to fight her demons, both human and paranormal.

Eden: How did you find the inspiration for such a multi-faceted story and original main character?

Krystalyn: For years, I’ve wanted a tattoo of the Chinese symbol for serenity just above my right shoulder blade. The story began with me wondering what kind of character would have that tattoo and why she would have gotten it.

Eden:  Do you have any other books in the works?

Krystalyn: I’m finishing up a YA paranormal mystery titled Legasea. It’s about a sixteen-year-old girl named Aileen who discovers a dead girl floating in the bay near her house. She soon learns her new boyfriend may be involved, and her association with him leads to the death of a family member, her own kidnapping, and the reveal of a legacy that just might get her killed.

I’m also working on the first draft of a middle grade fantasy which is a cross between Artemis Fowl and The Santa Clause.

Eden: Those sound like interesting projects! Well, thanks for dropping by to share with us.  Is there anything else you’d like readers to know before you go?

Krystalyn: I post short stories on the first Friday of each month over at http://fictionfemmefatale.blogspot.com/ I run the blog with three other authors, and our stories are based off of a common picture prompt.

Eden: Readers can follow @Krysteybelle on twitter for updates on Spirit World and future books by Krystalyn Drown.
